First-rate Pain Management Services We Offer

Living with chronic pain can make it difficult to manage daily tasks and responsibilities. St. Louis Pain Consultants is a trusted pain management facility offering first-rate pain management services. We treat conditions such as annular tears, herniated discs, spinal stenosis, and spondylitis. At our facility, we provide the following services to help relieve pain and restore your well-being:

Basivertebral Nerve Ablation (BVNA)

Basivertebral nerve ablation (BVNA) is a procedure that targets lower back pain. The treatment is implant-free and minimally invasive, and evidence shows that most BVNA patients experience less pain three months after the procedure. These improvements have also been shown to last for more than five years. If you have been experiencing lower back pain for at least six months, we can run tests to see if you could benefit from BVNA.

Dorsal Root Ganglion (DRG) Stimulation

If you have focal nerve pain, dorsal root ganglion (DRG) stimulation may be effective in improving your pain. The treatment involves putting electrodes over the DRG. This helps interrupt pain signals before they can be sent to the brain. We start with temporary leads, which can be replaced with a permanent implant if you see an improvement in your pain levels.

Epidural Steroid Injections

Epidural steroid injections administer strong anti-inflammatory medication into the spinal canal. This helps reduce inflammation and pain. If you have disc herniations or spinal stenosis, you may be a good candidate for this treatment option.

Facet Injections

Facet injections deliver medication into joints that are causing pain. A fluoroscope machine is first used to identify the correct joints, followed by the injection. Patients experiencing joint pain caused by inflammation or arthritis may benefit from these injections.

Peripheral Nerve Stimulation

Similar to DRG stimulation, peripheral nerve stimulation involves wearing temporary leads over a damaged nerve. If the treatment works, a permanent implant can be placed. Peripheral nerve stimulation can be used to target any pain-inducing nerve in the body.

Radiofrequency Ablation

Radiofrequency ablation can help reduce joint pain by modifying or destroying nerves that are causing pain. After using anesthetic medication to determine the pain-causing nerves, we then perform the ablation with a probe. Improvement can last for nine to 15 months.

Spinal Cord Stimulation

If you have chronic pain in your back or arms and legs, spinal cord stimulation may improve your pain. Electrodes can be placed close to the nerves carrying the pain signals to intercept the signal before it reaches the brain. These nerves are most often in the spine. The electrodes will be tested externally before making plans for a permanent implant.

Superion

Superion is an intervertebral spacer that may help patients suffering from spinal stenosis. Spinal stenosis is a narrowing of the spine, which can be improved by inserting Superion between the spinous process and the vertebral bodies. This gives the nerves more space and can improve pain resulting from the condition.
