Spinal Stenosis Pain Treatment

What Is Spinal Stenosis?

Spinal stenosis is a narrowing of the bone channel occupied by the spinal nerves. generally related to degeneration in the spine. The condition is often caused by the natural aging process or arthritis, and commonly occurs in the neck (cervical stenosis) and lower back (lumbar stenosis).

As it is a gradual process and rarely causes immediate symptoms. A few do not feel any effects of the narrowing, but as part of the aging process, most people will eventually notice radiating pain, weakness, and/or numbness secondary to the compression of the nerves or spinal cord.

With spinal stenosis, development of bony growths from osteoarthritis and/or other degenerative changes constrict the space for the spinal cord and/or spinal nerves.  There are a number of potential symptoms of spinal stenosis, and one’s specific symptoms are mainly determined by the location and severity of the stenosis in the spine.

Are you feeling...

  • Back or neck pain that can range from mild to severe
  • Tingling, numbness and/or weakness in arms and legs
  • Difficulty standing or walking
